Supporting the AFA

The AFA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We invite contributions to support our mission: To facilitate relationships among alumni and friends of Allderdice and to support excellence and well-being at Pittsburgh Allderdice High School.

Donors will receive an acknowledgment letter to document their tax-exempt donation.

Donations to the AFA will support activities and purchases that are consistent with the AFA mission statement, as well as the administrative costs of the organization.  

Donations have supported activities or purchases such as:

  • Auditorium sound system upgrade
  • Auditorium projection screen
  • Debate team
  • Faculty/staff tailgate event to begin 2024-25 school year
  • Graduation gifts for the Classes of 2020 and 2021during COVID-19 pandemic
  • Library upgrade project
    • Installation of improved projection and sound equipment
    • New tables 
  • Musical Instruments
  • Robotics team
  • School newspaper (The Foreword)
  • Summer band camp
  • Visit from Future Kings

Donations will also support the AFA Hall of Fame, other priority activities and purchases as determined by the AFA Board in consultation with the Allderdice community, and the AFA's administrative costs.   

In accordance with IRS regulations covering charitable contributions, the funds will not be used for the following purposes:

* To pay for a membership, dinner, or any other activity that benefit donors;
* To support a political campaign; 
* To purchase raffle tickets;
* To pay for personal expenses incurred by relatives of donors, including tuition;
* To provide any other substantial private benefit to any individual
