Let's help update the library!

The AFA has been working with the school librarian to improve a "hub of the school."  Used for classes, special programs, tutors, and guest speakers, the Allderdice library needs enhancements to be a more effective, welcoming space.

  • Together with the AFA, the class of January 1962 funded new projection equipment to bring 21st century technology to the library.
  • The funds that the classes of 1953 and January 1954 donated to the AFA will support the purchases of 2 of 10 new tables that will replace the current furniture, which show significant signs of years of wear and tear.

  • Can you or your class help support the purchases of the remaining 8 tables?  For a $1000 contribution to the AFA's library campaign, you or your class's support toward the purchase of a table will be commemorated.  Funds received by the AFA library campaign that exceed the $8000 will be used for other library improvements.  Our librarian has visited other high school libraries, including at other Pittsburgh Public Schools, and has additional ideas to enhance the library, which is ("literally"!) used by everyone at the school.  The library's annual budget is limited to the purchase of books, so let's help improve this space!
  • To make a $1000 donation, please first send an email message to the Alumni and Friends of Allderdice at: allderdice1927@gmail.com  with “Library Table” as the SUBJECT.  Please identify the graduating class or donor(s) in the body of the email.  We will respond with instructions on completing your donation.
  • To make donations to the library fund for less than $1000, please complete this form and submit it with a check with “library fund” in the comments.
