I joined the Navy right after graduation. After boot camp I went to the Submarine Training School in New London Connecticut followed by deployment to the USS Lewis & Clark SSBN644 which was in the shipyard being converted from Polaris to Poseidon missile capability. I earned my dolphins and became a Sonar technician & earned a rating of second class. While in the Navy my religious beliefs changed from Methodist to Seventh Day Adventist.
After the Navy I came back to the Burg & schooled at Penn Tech & some at the Community College followed by Andrew’s University in Michigan. Even with GI bill schooling was too expensive. So I interviewed with IBM, XEROX,& Eastman Kodak. IBM wanted to hire me but wouldn’t honor my Saturday Sabbath beliefs. Xerox also wanted to hire me but was going through a hiring freeze at that time in 77. But Kodak hired me but the job was in Huntington WV being a field engineer repairing the Ekta Print line of copiers. While at Kodak I trained also in Photo Finishing,BIS equipment ( microfilming equipment) & EktaChem ( large mainframe blood I joined the Navy right after graduation. Then Johnson and Johnson bought the Ekta Chem line of business & I was one of the human assets that transferred to the Johnson and Johnson companies. I’ve retired & now living in the mountains of WV in a little town of Huttonsville which is about 25 miles north of Snow Shoe.
